Brandon Hi Thelma, I believe the Mary Pettit you speak of is a descendant of Joshua Pettit b1734 of Spartanburg Co, SC, specifically through his son John b1771 and grandson Elijah. My friend George Pettett wrote a book called Pettett and Pettit: This Family Business that covers this family quite well. He was also from this line.
