I would like to hear from a descendant of Elijah Pettit of McMinn County, TN.
Elijah was born about 1796 in South Carolina.
Elijah married married Melinda Deaton in McMinn County, TN on August 7, 1859 or 1860.
They had the following children:
- Mary Anne Ellender 1842-1928 + James Monroe Grubb
- Andrew Jackson Pettit 1843-1896 + Lucinda Brantley
- Jasper Pettit 1845-1866
- Narcissa Pettit 1847-1926 + James F Geren
- Denzia Ethel Pettit 1849-1917 + Lindsay Columbus Hayle
- Susannah Pettit 1851-1875 + Franklin Joel Gwinn
- William M. Pettit 1854-1938 + Lucinda A. Poplin
- Joseph McCully Pettit 1859-1939 + Mary Catherine Haynes
Some of these Pettits moved to Meigs County, Tennessee. Others moved to Arkansas and Miami, OK.
